Paris to me is always a good idea because I can drown myself in champagne, and eat my way through the city one croissant at a time. But if you’re training for a race, or just trying to stay in shape, we don’t want to fall too far off the wagon. The best thing about Paris running routes is that you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take in the sights while getting a nice run all at the same time.
Whether you’re looking for a short jog, or a 10+ mile run, you’ll find what you need in my top 3 list of Paris running routes.
1. LOUVRE TO THE ARC DE TRIOMPHE: 4.3 MILE LOOP
This is what I call “The Tourist Run.”
If you want to see the sights and get a workout in at the same time, this run is for you.
You’ll start by the Louvre, pass through the Tuileries Garden, then head down the Champs-Élysées, then turn around at the Arc De Triomphe. Once you leave the Louvre, you’ll find plenty of fellow runners enjoying the public garden. The route is best first thing in the morning, before the shoppers descend on the Champs-Élysées.
To end your tourist run, snap a selfie in front of the Arc De Triomphe, before heading back to the Louvre.
2. JARDIN DU LUXEMBOURG: 1.3 MILE LOOP
The easy run, the jet lag run… the hangover run.
If you had too much champagne the night before, or maybe you’re jet lagged from an overnight flight, this is one of the best Paris running routes for you. You can’t beat the beauty at the Luxembourg Gardens.
Jogging in Paris through this path is an enjoyable 1.3 mile route with such beautiful trees and flowers lining the path, you won’t mind doubling up it. This route is easily added onto a few miles around there area as you get lost in the beautiful streets. Notre Dame and Sacré-Cœur are nearby if you want to add some extra distance and tourist attractions. If you plan to add distance in the area, try starting your run by 6AM, that way traffic won’t be an issue with crossing the narrow streets.
The palace on the property is now owned by the French Senate. From the fountains, to the gorgeous flowerbeds, it’s no surprise this is a popular spot for runners and walkers.
While you’re in the area, I have to recommend picking up a vegan delight after your run at “Hot Vog.” The vegan hot dog join is just a block away from the gardens.
Vegan hot dogs on a fresh made French baguette… I need this on the daily! You can load it up with veggies, and the staff is incredible friendly.
3. SEINE RIVER: 8-10 MILES
If you’re training for a race, or just need to put in more miles, running on the Seine can’t be beat.
I have to recommend doing this route at night; a lit up Eiffel Tower will be in your view for miles. I went running around 10PM, and I felt safe the entire way. The area was actually pretty busy with runners and walkers.
This is great for 8-10 miles or more! I wanted to do 8 miles, so I started at the Louvre and headed west toward the Eiffel Tower, which is about 2 miles away. You’ll be amazed at the beautiful architecture along the way.
There are plenty of bridges with pedestrian spaces, so you can easily switch to the other side. I turned around at 4 miles, to make it a nice 8 by the time I got back to the Louvre.
